1st Tampa Bay Classical Music & Dance Festival May 21

It is the first of a kind, started with the vision of turning into a grand tradition, something you don’t want to miss. The first annual daylong 2016 Tampa Bay Indian Music & Dance Festival will be held on Saturday, May 21, in Tampa. Among the artists performing are Sangeet Natak Academy winner Pandit Nayan Ghosh on both sitar and tabla, vocalists Sangeeta Lahiri, Radharaman Kirtane and Lavanya Dinesh, Shankh Lahiri and Thiru Pant on tabla, Bharat Natyam dancer Tara Priyadarshani, Kuchipudi dancer Madhuri Gudla, and K.V. Mahabala on sitar, and others. Besides a dozen world-class musicians and dancers of the highest caliber, the all-day extravaganza, aimed at both Indian and non-Indian audiences, will showcase yoga, kirtan, henna artists and Indian food and merchandise vendors.
The event is presented by India Cultural Center and Tampa’s Shruti Foundation. The festival is offered in two sessions, (11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.) each is $25 or $39 for both. Orlando Cricket Festival set Oct. 9-11, 2015

The weekend of Oct. 9-11 will mark an important and exciting milestone in the young life of American Cricket Federation. After five months of intense competition between 17 leagues spread across six geographically dispersed divisions from Southwest to New England and Midwest to Florida, eight cricket teams have emerged to play for the title of America’s third National Cricket Champion.
The division winners, Florida All-Stars (also the defending champions), Massachusetts Patriots, Midwest Chargers, NTCA heat, NYBCL Jets, Occa Cougars, Philadelphia Tigers and SCCA Kings will play a series of 40 overs matches on Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10, at four cricket grounds in Orlando – Silver Star, Avalon Park, Eagle’s Nest and Poinciana Cricket Ground. The top two teams will clash on Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Silver Star ground (2801 N. Apopka-Vineland Road) for the title of the National Champion and will represent the United States in the North American Cricket Championship against Canada in March 2015 in Phoenix. VIP guest for the finals will be West Indian great Michael Holding.
