The lineup of professional chefs for this year’s Tampa Bay International Curry Festival (TBICF) Oct. 4 aims to impress, with chefs coming directly from India, England, Trinidad, New York and Miami. They have prepared foods for superstars such as Sophia Loren, Gloria Estefan, Puff Daddy and Al Pacino.
The Friday, Oct. 3, evening charity event is hosted by Drs. Ram and Sadhana Ramcharran and presented by Drs. Kiran and Pallavi Patel Foundation. It will feature food, beers and wine pairings, silent auction and entertainment by recording artist Jordan Lawhead. A special brewed curry-inspired beer will be unveiled. This semiformal event will be at the Marriott West Shore, Tampa. Tickets are $150 per person and $250 for couples.
From noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Vinoy Park, 701 Bayshore Drive, N.E., in St. Petersburg, TBICF will showcase a myriad of national, local chefs, restaurants and individuals, all vying to win the first place prize of $5,000 for professionals and $2,500 for amateurs. Attendees will have the opportunity to taste various types of curries from local restaurants and vendors from around the world. There will be food demonstrations, adult beverages, and musical performances by local artist, bands and main headliner Wayne Wonder.
