BMM Mahotsav Orlando Oct. 4, 2014

The first-ever Bruhan Maharashtra Mandal (BMM) Mahotsav Orlando 2014 will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, from 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lyman High School, 865 S. Ronald Reagan Blvd., Longwood. Cultural performances include Shiv Rajyabhishek, MangalaGaur, Marathi Ekankika, Santaanchi Vaari, Utsav Natyancha, and the highlight of the evening, Marathi Taraka – a musical song and dance extravaganza hosted by producer and director Mahesh Tilekar with leading Marathi television and film actresses. The show brings alive the beauty and talent of music ranging from folk to classical and western songs from various Marathi and Hindi films. These 14 actresses: Neha Pendse, Hemangi Kavi, Urmila Kanitkar, Priya Bapat, Pooja Sawant, Shruti Marathe, Deepali Sayyed, Kranti Redkar, Smita Shevale, Sonali Kulkarni, Teja Deokar, Siya Patil, Medha Ghadge and Smita Tambe have performed along with actors Umesh Kamat and Adinath Kothare.

Annual Tampa Bay International Curry Festival Oct. 4, 2014, moves to St. Petersburg’s Vinoy Park

The lineup of professional chefs for this year’s Tampa Bay International Curry Festival (TBICF) Oct. 4 aims to impress, with chefs coming directly from India, England, Trinidad, New York and Miami. They have prepared foods for superstars such as Sophia Loren, Gloria Estefan, Puff Daddy and Al Pacino.

The Friday, Oct. 3, evening charity event is hosted by Drs. Ram and Sadhana Ramcharran and presented by Drs. Kiran and Pallavi Patel Foundation. It will feature food, beers and wine pairings, silent auction and entertainment by recording artist Jordan Lawhead. A special brewed curry-inspired beer will be unveiled. This semiformal event will be at the Marriott West Shore, Tampa. Tickets are $150 per person and $250 for couples.

From noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Vinoy Park, 701 Bayshore Drive, N.E., in St. Petersburg, TBICF will showcase a myriad of national, local chefs, restaurants and individuals, all vying to win the first place prize of $5,000 for professionals and $2,500 for amateurs. Attendees will have the opportunity to taste various types of curries from local restaurants and vendors from around the world. There will be food demonstrations, adult beverages, and musical performances by local artist, bands and main headliner Wayne Wonder.
